Andrew Tobben, Cornell College, Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia
Tobben, a junior, became Cornell’s first Iowa Conference cross country champion, outdistancing the 146-man field by 10 seconds. He is the first Ram to claim a conference title in cross country since 1993, when Kelly Lear was crowned women's champion in the Midwest Conference. The last Cornell male runner to grab conference gold was Tony Every in 1990. Tobben completed the 8,000-meter course in 26:28, leading the Rams to a third-place team finish, the best for Cornell since joining the IIAC in 1997. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Andrew Tobben, Cornell College, Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia
Tobben, a junior, set a personal 8-kilometer record in posting a 32-second victory at the Running of the Cows Oct. 17 at Carleton. He posted his fourth top-five finish this fall and claimed his third career meet title. Tobben led the Rams to their second team championship this season and beat runner-up Carleton, which was ranked one spot ahead of the Rams at No. 9 in the Central Region Poll.

Tobben, a junior, was the highest-finishing individual among five IIAC schools at the Dan Huston Invitational, placing second out of 206 runners with a time of 26:00. Tobben’s runner-up finish marked the third time in four meets this fall in which he has placed in the top five.

Marty Mitchell, Luther College, Decorah, Iowa/Decorah
Mitchell, a freshman, finished 32nd out of 270 runners at the Wis.-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational. He completed the 8,000-meter course in 26:57, 1:30 behind the meet champion, leading the Norse to an eighth-place finish out of 18 teams with 212 points.

Chase Nowak, Cornell College, Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain
Nowak, a sophomore, was the top Iowa Conference finisher at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational, placing 15th in a 373-runner field. He covered the 8,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 56 seconds, trailing the meet champion by 25 seconds. The Rams placed seventh out of 26 teams, slotting in behind four regionally-ranked schools.

Dain Leytem, Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead
Leytem, a junior, placed 58th in a field of 238 runners at the National Catholic Championships hosted by the University of Notre Dame with a time of 27 minutes, 16.1 seconds. Of the 193 non-Division I runners at the meet, he finished 26th. The Duhawks were 11th of 32 teams overall (315 points) and fifth out of 25 non-Division I teams (156 points).

Andrew Tobben, Cornell College, Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia
Tobben, a junior, placed fifth in the field of 215 runners at the Les Duke Invitational, completing the 8,000-meter course in 26:13, 56 seconds behind meet champion Dan Greeno of Bethel (Minn.) University. He was the top IIAC finisher involving five other conference schools. He helped lead the Rams to a third-place team finish, also tops among IIAC teams. The Rams placed ahead of three teams ranked in the Central Region top 10 (Bethel, St. Olaf, Loras).

Ryan Edwardson, Simpson College, Spencer, Iowa/Spencer
Edwardson, a sophomore, finished second in a 112-runner field at the Central Invitational. He completed the 8,000-meter course in 19:40, finishing one second behind the meet champion. Edwardson led the Storm to a runner-up finish in the team competition with 47 points.
