CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced December 24 that former Wartburg College volleyball and track & field athlete Kelsey Steffens (DeWitt, Iowa/Central Clinton) and former Luther College wrestler Alec Bonander (Larchwood, Iowa/West Lyon) have been selected as the Duane Schroeder IIAC Scholar-Athletes of the Year for the 2008-09 academic year.

Clint Brown Named Interim Men's Golf Coach at Central
(Pella, Feb. 5)Clint Brown will serve as interim Central College men’s golf coach for the 2010 spring campaign. Brown is in his sixth season on the Dutch golf staff. A Wapello native and a 2003 Central graduate, he is a former golf squad member and served as a student assistant coach for the 2002-03 year. Brown also serves as editor of the Pella Chronicle.

Kim Fair Resigns as Luther Women's Soccer Coach
(Decorah, Feb. 5)After two years as head coach of the Luther College women’s soccer program, Kim Fair has announced her resignation, but will fulfill her contractual duties until the end of the school year. Luther Director of Athletics Joe Thompson said the college will conduct a national search for a new coach.

Iowa Conference to Host Student-Athlete Leadership Conference
(Cedar Rapids, Feb. 4)A group of approximately 65 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes plus administrators from each of the IIAC's nine institutions will gather beginning Friday, February 5, in Cedar Rapids for the Conference's first Student-Athlete Leadership Conference. The participants will take part in discussions on leadership, diversity, sportsmanship and the integration of the athletic/academic experience in the three-day conference at the Cedar Rapids Marriott.
