UPDATE: IIAC Office Returns to Downtown Cedar Rapids
(Cedar Rapids, Iowa, August 4) - Flood clean-up efforts in downtown Cedar Rapids have progressed to the point where it is now safe to re-occupy the IIAC Offices in the Guaranty Bank & Trust Building at Third Street SE and Third Avenue SE for normal business. Office telephones and fax machines are operating normally. Please continue to direct all IIAC-related inquiries to Joshua Schroeder, IIAC Director of Information.

   

Three IIAC Schools Honored with AVCA Team Academic Award
(Lexington, Ky., July 29) -
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced today that Central College, Cornell College, and Wartburg College are part of a record 353 teams to receive the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2007-2008 season. Eric Koehler Resigns as Wartburg Head Football Coach; Rick Willis to Lead Program
(Waverly, Iowa, July 27) - Wartburg College Vice President of Administration Gary Grace announced Sunday evening, July 27, that Director of Athletics Rick Willis will resume duties as head football coach this fall. Former head coach Eric Koehler has accepted the offensive coordinator's position at NCAA Division II Grand Valley State University. In his first stint at the helm of the Knights, Willis posted a 79-17 record with four Iowa Conference championships and two NCAA Division III playoff wins. <Complete Release (release courtesy of Wartburg College sports information)>

   

Former Buena Vista SID Nick Huber Passes Away
(Storm Lake, Iowa, July 19) - Nick Huber, who served as sports information director at Buena Vista Univesity from 2004-2007, passed away Saturday, July 19 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. <Complete Release (release courtesy of Buena Vista University sports information)>

   

Dave Roe Named Cornell Head Golf Coach
(Mount Vernon, Iowa, July 15) - Cornell College has named Dave Roe as head women’s and men’s golf coach, it was announced by Director of Athletics John Cochrane. USTFCCCA Honors 14 Individuals, Four IIAC Men's Teams With All-Academic Recognition
(Hiawatha, Iowa, July 15) - Fourteen Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) student-athletes and four teams were named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2008 Division III Men's All-Academic Track and Field Team. In addition, Wartburg's Andy Hodge has been named the 2008 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA. <Complete Release>

   

Simpson and Luther Women's Basketball Teams Named to WBCA Academic Top 25
(Atlanta, July 15) - Women's basketball teams from Simpson College and Luther College have been named to the 2007-08 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The Top 25 awards teams throughout the nation that carry the highest grade point averages for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches.<Complete Release>

   

Former Simpson Swimming Coach Mark Wagner Passes Away
(Indianola, Iowa, July 15) - Former Simpson swimming coach Mark Wagner passed away after a long battle with cancer Saturday July 12 at his home in Dallas Center, Iowa. CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced December 10 that former Loras College track and field athlete Abby Erion (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) and former Luther College cross country and track and field athlete Adam Bohach (Spillville, Iowa/South Winneshiek) have been selected as the Duane Schroeder IIAC Scholar-Athletes of the Year for the 2006-07 academic year.
